June 2024
On 26th June, I took part in the South Hams Authors Network Open Mic event at a local pub here in Ivybridge. It was a glorious evening of warm sunshine, so the pub garden was full of customers enjoying a pint - talk about a captive audience. They must have been entertained, even as unsuspecting participants, because of them hung around, even after we stepped onto the stage.
We each had a ten-minute slot. There was poetry and fiction. Some were a lot shorter, one or two a smidge longer. After h'mming and hawing over which book to read from, I decided to go for it and read a passage from two very different genres. The first from Heel Lead, the second from Lost Legacy. Then tripped over the microphone cable as I left and nearly pulled the whole thing over!
It's the first time I've taken part in an event like this and it was a lot of fun, both listening to other authors' work and reading some of my own
